Snow never really picks it's tie all that well.  Tuesday I went to the dentist with a mild tooth ache which, by the time I got home and the injection wore off, turned into a raging exposed nerve pain and ended up requiring a root canal.  However to get there I had to go through this.

Wednesday

Morning
Nobody is going anywhere.  Thick snow is lying like a pale eiderdown across the city and visibility is only about 40 feet. Molly's school is open but side roads are murder and police are recommending to stay at home unless absolutely necessary.  There's a real blizzard out there at the moment.  Molly's cheering because I just called her school and told them there was no way we could get there with her.  She's now planning a pyjama day unless she can talk us into going out front and playing in the snow with her.  I'm biting my lip in the hope the pain is just bruising a settling down from the filling.

Walked up into Bitterne with the dog through blizzard and five inches of snow in places.  Needed dog food and food for us as we hadn't been shopping.  Took an a hour to get there and back again.  Left Missy tied up outside Sainsbury for 10 minutes while I shopped.  She loved the snow, chasing snowflakes as we went.  Managed to stay on my feet the whole journey so very pleased.

Afternoon
Had lunch and now outside to play in the snow with Karen, Molly and Harry.  Molly is sliding down the small grass hill in an Ikea bag (stand in Sled), Harry's falling over and laughing and Karen's chasing Missy down the hill trying to retrieve her.  Just pelted Karen with snowballs after she's come back out from putting Missy back in doors.  The three of them have built a pretty decent snowman while I've been clearing the steps and the sidewalk in front of our place.  Molly's now in a plastic box sliding down the grass backwards.  Works better then the Ikea bag on the small incline.  Heading back indoors for hot chocolate now.  I'm chowing down on painkillers because I've come to the conclusion that this isn't just the after ache of yesterday's dental work and I've got a raw nerve following the filling.  Absolute bloody agony.

Thursday

Morning
School gave up today and joined the rest of the City's schools by closing.  Molly cheering, I'm going back to bed.  Karen got up with Harry while I slept on, she's booked me another Dentist appointment for this afternoon.  It's stopped snowing but still below freezing so everything is icing over now.  A parcel delivery truck has given up trying to get up our hill and the delivery guy is walking his parcels up.  Molly is nose down in the DSi and Harry is wandering around being very cute.

Afternoon
Karen parked round the back on Tuesday and this is the first day we've taken the car out.  We've scraped a couple of inches of frozen snow off the windscreen and now have to get out of here.  The back road is frozen and the car only just made it up the little hill onto the road.  Didn't make it up the next hill though, Karen enjoyed sliding backwards back down again so we had to go down the hill very carefully over worse ice to reach the main road.  Major road are clear but we're leaving kids at her mum and dads while we go to the dentist.  Pain so bad agreed I shouldn't drive.

I've got the temporary filling now while they make sure the nerve is dealt with and the most annoying thing is that this has made it very difficult to enjoy this ridiculous weather with my kids.  Still, more snow to come on Sunday so there's still time.
