I was trying to capture the scruffy unattractiveness of the urban garden fir tree.  I think I succeeded.
For some reason that escapes me these drab, ugly, triangular firs became a popular addition to many gardens some 30 years ago.  Little mini firs no doubt looked cute but as they grew, with little of the character most varieties of tree have these garden firs became, in my opinion, a blight on the landscape. 

Do not make the mistake of thinking I am against fir trees, The Royal Victoria Coutry Park has dozens of, I think, Scots Pines that are absolutely magnificent.  All are clearly the same variety of tree yet have a uniqueness that makes each one an individual..
